Kansas corrections officials said a resident of the Hutchinson Correctional Facility died Tuesday, and he had tested positive for COVID-19.
The resident, a 66-year-old man, tested positive on October 13th and was transferred to the hospital three days later. His name has not been released. Corrections officials said the man had underlying medical concerns that contributed to his condition. He was serving an indeterminate life sentence for a sex crime, and he had been in the prison system since August, 1988.
This is the seventh resident death related to COVID-19.
