The Kansas Highway Patrol said a Wichita teenager died early Sunday after his car went out of control on I-235 and hit a bridge pillar.
The crash was reported shortly before 1 a.m. on I-235 at mile marker 13.9 near Meridian. Troopers said a southbound car went off the right side of the roadway, then the driver overcorrected and crossed over to the inside shoulder and overcorrected again. The car then went off the highway to the right and struck a bridge pillar.
The driver, 17-year-old Santiago Gomez, was taken to a hospital where he later died.
