The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for south central and southeast Kansas for the weekend into the middle of next week. The warning will be in effect from noon Saturday through 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Triple digit temperatures are expected for the Wichita area each day through Thursday. The heat and humidity will increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, especially for people working outdoors or participating in outdoor activities. People are urged to limit their time outdoors and drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Children and pets should never be left unattended inside vehicles.
The heat warning includes Sedgwick County and all of the surrounding counties.
