Wichita Police ARE investigating a shooting that critically injured an 18-year-old male from Wichita.

Around 11:40 p.m. Saturday, Officers were dispatched to a shooting that happened in the parking lot of a QuikTrip location in the 3900 block of South Meridian. There they found the 18-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his right upper back.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries. He underwent surgery and is currently in stable condition.

The investigation revealed that the victim was struck by gunfire after a 20-year-old robbery victim exchanged fire with a male suspect that started shooting at him.
Investigators are still working to fully determine what led up to the shooting.
