The Kansas Food Bank with Google.org and Feeding America to immediately deliver meals to Kansans in need and build long term technology solutions to provide their community with greater access to resources.
This announcement is part of an initiative from Google.org and Feeding America to help provide meals to communities across the United States. You can read more about the initiative here.
It is estimated that 34 million Americans, including 9 million children, are facing food insecurity. Among Feeding America network food banks, 90% report an increased or sustained need over the last month. Food banks themselves are seeing food donations decline along with rising costs for freight and food purchase.
Officials with the Kansas Food Bank also highlighted the increased cost of food, housing, and utilities locally. Nationally, Google sees a spike in searches for food support every November (click here for more info).
Kansans can join the effort by donating food and funds or volunteering.
- Host a food drive! Our most needed foods right now are Peanut Butter, Cereal and Canned Meat like tuna and chicken.
- Monetary donations allow us to utilize our buying power to purchase in bulk.
- Volunteer to help pack boxes, sort donations or bag produce.
- Join the conversation about hunger in Kansas. Follow us on social media.
The Kansas Food Bank will also receive donated Search Ads to connect people looking for help with resources, provide avenues for others to give back and drive food security awareness nationwide.
