Staff and patients were evacuated from all buildings at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita as a result of a bomb threat.
The threat was received by telephone around 12:20 p.m. Friday. Wichita police officers and a K-9 unit from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms conducted a search of the buildings, and they were reopened around 2:30.
Veterans who had appointments disrupted or scheduled will be contacted by Medical Center staff to reschedule. The threat is still under investigation by the VA Police Department.
