Winter storm brings snow to Kansas

A winter storm has moved into Kansas, bringing a heavy, wet snow that has been covering streets and highways across the area..  The forecast calls for up to 6 inches of snow for the Wichita area and south central Kansas.

As of 9 a.m. Friday, there was 3 inches of snow measured in Wichita.   KFDI’s weather partners at KWCH Storm Team 12 expect amounts of 4 to 6 inches in south central Kansas, including the Wichita area, by Friday afternoon.  A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday for all of south central and southwest Kansas.

Snow was beginning late Thursday afternoon in southwest Kansas and it moved across the state during the night.  Areas south of Interstate 70 will see 2 to 4 inches but heavier amounts are expected in the south central region.
