Wichita’s Eisenhower National Airport closed operations at 6 p.m. Saturday as heavy snow continued across the area.
Airport officials said in a message on social media that the ongoing snowfall and a need to rest crews led to the decision to close the airport. The airport held off the closing until four incoming flights could land and several other flights could take off.
The airport reopened on Sunday.
The snowy weather also led to the cancellation of the Lights at Ability Point display Saturday evening, and a number of churches across south central Kansas canceled services for Sunday.
