Wichita park and recreation officials said a playground at Southview Park has been closed to the public because of damage from an arson fire.
The fire was reported Monday afternoon at the park at 2215 West 45th Street South, and it caused damages of more than $20,000. The playground was closed to allow maintenance workers to remove the damaged equipment.
Park and Recreation officials are urging the public to help stop the vandalism by reporting any suspicious activity. Information can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 267-2111. Tips can also be submitted to the web site stopcrime316.com
