The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita will again host an event to offer a variety of benefits and services to area veterans.
The Homeless Veteran Care Service at the Medical Center will be having its Homeless Stand Down for the first time since 2019. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Hyde Park at 201 South Greenwood.
The event will allow homeless veterans to access VA benefits and services, housing assistance, counseling and substance abuse referrals, legal services, and employment services. Veterans will also be able to get haircuts and pick up food, clothing, personal care items, and refreshments.
The event is open to all homeless individuals and families, and to veterans who are at risk of becoming homeless. A bus will be available to move veterans from the United Rescue Mission and the United Methodist Open Door Day Shelter to Hyde Park. There will also be a shuttle at the Dole VA Medical Center.
