As the fall semester begins at Wichita State University, students will be able to take advantage of a new robotic food delivery service on campus.
Starship Technologies has activated a fleet of autonomous, on-demand robots that will deliver food from a number of campus restaurants, including Panda Express, Freddy’s Frozen Custard, Tu Taco, Cargill Cafe and the Black and Gold Grill. Deliveries are also available from the Starbucks at the Rhatigan Student Center and Market at Groundhouse.
The service works in conjunction with the student meal plan and Shocker dollars, as well as credit card. Users can download the Starship Deliveries app on their mobile device and get food delivered for a fee of $2.49 to any campus location. They can watch on an interactive map as the robot makes the delivery. When the robot arrives, the user will get an alert and they can meet the robot and unlock it through the app.
Wichita State is not paying for the robots and Starship will maintain ownership of the robot devices.
